A Time to Give Thanks

Tuesday, November 25, 2014

The staff at Factor 360 would like to wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving Weekend! We will be closed to spend time giving thanks with our families.

As you are making your gift lists for friends and family, consider purchasing gifts locally from small businesses, don't be distracted by big box retailers who have spent so much competing for your attention. Here's why. Take the state of our economy into consideration, buying local could be the best decision you could make. For example, according to the Andersonville Study of Retail Economics, local business generates 70 percent more local economic activity per square foot than big box retail.

Our environment also benefits from your decision to shop from local businesses. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), industrial pollution is responsible for almost 50 percent of the pollution present in the United States. Shopping locally helps cut down on processing, packaging and transportation waste, leading to less pollution. Overall, buying local is a chance to support the growing Maker Movement, meet talented artisans and small business owners who take great pride in their work, experience handmade, one-of-a-kind and meaningful gifts and support your community. Consider this, and the stats in this infographic, when deciding where to make your purchases this year.

A New Look for Dakota Walleye Guide Service

Tuesday, November 11, 2014

With the busy summer fishing season coming to an end, Dakota Walleye Guide Service decided it would be a great time to refresh their online presence. Factor 360 was happy to assist.

First on the list was branding. The team at Factor 360 proposed that “Dakota Walleye – Karl Palmer Guide Service” was a little long, so it was shortened to Dakota Walleye Guide Service. The logo was reworked to a simple, clean design, easy to reproduce for print and promotional pieces, with a serif font and a distinctive walleye outline, favored by Karl.

The website design followed suit, combining Karl’s hidden talent for photography with a fresh, outdoor, tourism-based feel. Factor 360 creates all their new websites using a fluid, responsive design, meaning the layout of dakotawalleye.com will adapt for mobile devices and tablets.

The team at Factor 360 took the existing content and ideas created by Karl Palmer and stepped things up a notch to create a more streamlined and consistent content strategy. Thanks to another of Karl’s hidden talents: writing, all the content took was a little tweaking to make it really stand out.
